Look to your right and you will see a dashing photo of Frank Delaney taken by Jerry Bauer! He — Delaney, not Bauer — is the author of Venetia Kelly’s Traveling Show, which will hit stores Feb. 23.
I’ve been reading his book and enjoying the author’s style, but since I want to do the work justice, I figured I would postpone my review until Feb. 22. Instead, I’m going to bring you a fun interview with Delaney where he talks about books, writing, and more.
Without further ado, here’s the interview. Please give Frank Delaney a warm welcome.
2. Venetia Kelly’s Traveling Show reminds me of the gypsy shows seen in many movies. Did you have a particular inspiration for the traveling show and is it based on an actual show you’ve seen or researched?
Thank you for answering my questions, Frank. We wish you luck in all you do. Stay tuned for my review of Venetia Kelly’s Traveling Show on Monday, Feb. 22.

An excellent interview! I was especially interested to see what books Delaney likes to read, as I always think it's neat to hear about author's reading preferences.

Delaney sounds like a very interesting guy, pet elephants and eating ice cream every day and all. And now Iโm very interested to read his book with mythological references and his challenge to find what is behind the story. Sounds great.
This is such an awesome piece. Great job by interviewer and interviewee alike. I love the unexpectedness of it. I've been familiar with Frank's (impressive) body of work for some time, but ice cream–whoever would've thought? Can you say best resolution ever? I can't wait for 'Traveling Show'. ๐
Interesting interview. Looking forward to reading the book.
Very interesting interview. I'm thinking to myself that perhaps I should make a personal resolution not to let a day go by w/o eating some chocolate; and I don't think I will wait for a significant birthday to get started.
I really enjoyed this interview, and I can't wait to read the book!
I'm looking forward to the new Alan Furst novel myself. ๐

I think it would be great to hear him read an audio book!
What a great interview! Delaney sounds like quite a character – I love that he's followed traveling shows around. I need to see what audio books he's read.
